I did a recent comparison between audio unlimited wireless and Polk RC85i speakers in my home theater. Even though their speakers were not wireless and needed to be wall mounted, I have always been fond of Polk Audio products and decided to give their speakers a try. These speakers leave only a grate visible because they are mounted inside the wall and the sound was the same high quality that Polk has provided in the past.
The installation is nearly invisible for these 8" speakers that are rectangular in shape. Hookup to the receiver was easy to accomplish and the sound was magnificent. The online reviews I have read were validated by my experienced and I was very pleased with the sound quality. The user has a choice of installing them as back or front speakers for a home entertainment system. The surround sound effect was evident with most of the CDs and DVDs I played and the sound is rich and deep. I did find that in order to get a more intense sound, the speakers needed to be insulated.
The alternative choice was to install audio unlimited wireless units. I had already studied various reviews and was familiar with the common complaints that consumers have. Sound quality is quite good but it does not compare with the Polk speakers. The remote control will only work within a distance of eight feet. The system is reasonably priced at about 9 depending on the retailer. These speakers are rated high within the wireless category but the quality is inferior. These speakers would work well in an outdoor environment for portable sound by the pool or on your patio. I spend a lot time entertainment guests outdoors and working on the yard, so these would work well for this application. I would expect these speakers to meet most of the expectations that I have for them.
When compared with the Polk system I installed in my home theater, they are definitely an affordable alternative for sound. If the performance matches the reviews that I have seen, I will likely be compelled to buy another set for use in other remote places in the house.
